Second Big Snow

These are from the 10th. It snowed a little more after these were taken.

Bunny Hat

Annie fixed Jen's bunny up with a special hat, and a cover for its candy cane stick.

Orange Julius

Jen found this cat, which Tim has named Orange Julius, after the first big snow. It could not get out of the way of the car because the snow was too high on the sides of the road. We have not yet located its owner. Its fate is undecided. Fell free to vote: 1) Keep, 2) take to shelter, 3) release it back where it was found.

First Big Snow

Well, the first time around it snowed a lot. I think about 20 inches. Then it kind of looked like this.

Snow Man

Well, the girls called this a snow fort, then a snow man. Then a snow fort again. This was the day before the first big storm.

William uses this chair to lord over the other residents of the house.

Cat on a Ladder

William likes to climb the ladder, which is in Zoe's room while we paint.

The Band

Zoe and Annie were setting up their band to start a tour.

The Sun

The girls got body crayons and set Tim up with an awesome picture.

Snowman

You can make a snowman like this one without getting cold.

It goes with this story: Imagine this converstion--
Tim: I would like a cake like that.
Jen: Do you want one? I will make you one. But it's a fondant frosting, it does not taste good.
Tim: I want one.
Jen: OK, I'll make you one.
(days later)
Tim: I thought you were going to make me a cake.
Jen: Do you want one? I will make you one.
Tim: I want one.
Repeat for three years. Until now. This is the cake that broke the cycle. It was tasty.

Snow

The record snowfall amount for the month of December was broken in one day. There was quite a bit of snow. I don't know if we needed two snow days and a late start for it, but that is the way it was.

Christmas

Santa got rid of a LOT of stuff at our house. Notably, no sign of a Mitsubishi Evolution.

Cats

Both girls were cats for a while.

Fairy

Annie decided to be a fairy while Tim and Jen worked on Zoe's room.

Chimney Removal

We took out the chimney that has not been used since the house got a second floor in 1920. It was easier than I expected. And we did not find anthing real interesting in there; just a couple pennies and an old notebook.

Zoe's missing tooth

Zoe lost a tooth last week. She was the last second grader in her school to lose a first tooth.

Annie's beard

Annie may not understand all the parts that go in to a good Santa Claus outfit, but she has the beard down.

Sledding

We did not have enough snow to sled in our yard, so Annie decided to turn the treadmill into a hill and a pillow into her sled.

Snow Day

It snowed for the first time of the season today. Annie caught a snowflake on her tongue, and the girls sat by the fireplace to get warm.

Loose Tooth

Zoe is the last kid in second grade to have all her original teeth. She does have one loose one, and it should come out any day now.

Caterpillars

Zoe found these caterpillars outside and decided to help them feel at home. Since this photo was taken one died and one escaped. I asked the girls if they wanted to let the dead caterpillar outside and Annie said no, because they "have a big responsiblity" to the caterpillars. I thought that responsibility ended with the death of the caterpillar, but apparently this is not the case.

Zoe's Peanut Butter Cup

This is Zoe with the world's largest Reese's peanut butter cup.

Sarah

Sarah, Tim's mom, and Tim's mom's husband, came for Sarah's birthday and Thanksgiving. The polar bear on Sarah's head is no cause for alarm.

Cookies

Sarah, Zoe, and Annie made cookies. Some used more frosting than others.

Annie's Mussel

Annie enjoyed this mussel on Sarah's birthday.

William

The girls let William try on this hat while he was napping.

Pumpkin Quilt

Jen made this quiltish thingy for her mom.

Annie's Birthday

We had Annie's birthday party at Jump on it Fun Center. It was pretty fun, and Jen made the cake.

Salamander

We also found this salamander on the tarp, which we wrapped the leaves in to take them to the dump. The salamander was given to Max and Chloe's dad, Kevin. He set it fee.

Leaf Pile

The girls made a leaf pile and jumped around with the neighbor's dogs.

Trading Places

Spotty and William traded places for a little while.
